Curriculum built for your standards
Customizable middle school science that’s ready to teach, includes local Garden State phenomena, and is fully aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Designed for New Jersey classrooms, and fully customizable
Thanks to Stile’s powerful and customizable platform, we took the very best of our existing middle school science curriculum and blended it with brand-new lessons tailored for New Jersey. The result is a seamless, structured, and sequenced middle school science curriculum for the state.
The best part? Every lesson is completely customizable so teachers can include local phenomena, differentiate based on student needs, and engage more students.
Real-world phenomena, from the Highlands to the Shore
Stile's phenomena are drawn from wonders all around the world. After all, it's important that students grow into global citizens. But sometimes, there's nothing more fascinating than investigating phenomena right where you live. Stile's curriculum for New Jersey offers a balanced blend of local and global phenomena.
Healthy waterways for a healthier future
New Jersey was the first U.S. state to regulate certain PFAS – synthetic "forever chemicals" that persist in water, soil, and living organisms. In this unit, students investigate how human activity affects water quality and the environment, connecting the water cycle to real-world decisions about sustainability and public health.

A little pest causing big problems
New Jersey's wetlands, forests, and farms are under pressure from invasive species like the spotted lanternfly, which threaten crops and disrupt local ecosystems. In this unit, students analyze New Jersey–based case studies to explain how changes in ecosystems affect populations and biodiversity, examining species interactions such as competition and predation and connecting local management challenges to core ecological principles.

Ancient survivors: Horseshoe crabs
Along New Jersey's coast, ancient horseshoe crabs have survived for hundreds of millions of years thanks to unique body systems and blue, copper-rich blood that helps them fight infection. In this unit, students investigate how different species have evolved systems for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and waste by comparing human and horseshoe crab body systems, discovering how structure and function support survival in diverse habitats.

Prepare your students for the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment
Stile includes a stand-alone NJSLA-S Practice Test that mirrors the official state assessment. Because every item is aligned to the state specifications, it creates a seamless, auto-graded checkpoint that saves you time and lifts student performance.
