Integrated Professional Learning

Stile Professional Learning is about great science teaching

A speaker giving a professional learning talk to a seated crowd

We’ve built and refined our holistic teacher development program off the back of 10 years of experience, countless hours reviewing the latest research and working in thousands of classrooms. We know what works.

Stile PL ensures that teachers are ready to deliver the best possible science education and leaders are well equipped to support them. Evidence-based sessions cover a range of topics from using specific questioning methods to encourage discussion and debate, to delivering timely, specific feedback and promoting metacognition.

It is an engaging, practical and collaborative exploration of how to implement evidence-based teaching strategies in the science classroom. Stile’s platform and curriculum are used as the tool to illustrate best practice.

Everyone thought the session was AWESOME!!! It is great to now have some practical skills we can start using with the kids as soon as tomorrow.

Why Stile PL

Evidence-based pedagogy

Stile’s PL is focused on the practical application of evidence-based pedagogies — those that are demonstrated to have real impact — in the science classroom. These high impact teaching strategies have a strong, sustained track record of helping to improve student outcomes.

Aligned to AITSL standards

All Stile PL has been purpose-built to align to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. All full-day workshop attendees are issued with a certificate that can be used as evidence of professional learning

Get even more out of Stile

We model how to apply pedagogies with Stile itself. This gives us the opportunity to model the use of Stile’s tools in a classroom-like environment, while also sharing our favourite tips and tricks.

A lasting impact

Teachers plan and set goals for how they’ll put their new learning into practice within their science classroom. Follow-up sessions encourage teachers to reflect and report back to the group.

Time to collaborate with colleagues

Teachers have a wealth of experience to share. Our PL workshops include time — something that’s in short supply for teachers - to engage and collaborate with colleagues from other schools.

Ready for the next class

Great PL must be practical. Every session is crafted to ensure teachers walk away with something concrete that can be used the very next day. Teachers will also take home exclusive resources.

Stile’s teaching experts

Stile’s team is in the unique position of having collectively observed or run thousands of science classes. Our worldwide network of teacher advisors have seen many more. This experience is what informs the ongoing development of Stile, and PL is no exception.

We don’t forget to have fun

All of this sounds like very serious and important stuff, and it is. But we’re also very big on keeping the joy of science teaching present, and reckon it’s important to have a bit of fun along the way.

Over the last two years, over 1,200 teachers participated in Stile Professional Learning, and the feedback was exceptional. Of the teachers who participated, 98% would recommend Stile Professional Learning to a colleague.

Hands down it was the best PD I have ever attended. Everything that was presented was intentional and helpful in so many ways.
